Biography
Raqeeb Oladipo Olaleye, professionally known as YVN Rakeeb, is a Lagos-born artist whose sound blends soulful R&B melodies with the vibrant rhythms of Afrobeats. Drawing inspiration from artists such as Chris Brown, Tory Lanez, and Jacquees, Rakeeb has developed a distinctive Afro-R&B sound.
His musical journey began at 13 with his first song, "Hard on the Track," which caught the attention of Nigerian DJ Cuppy, who shared the track on Instagram, introducing Rakeeb's music to a wider audience. Shortly after, Nigerian-American artist Rotimi reached out to explore a potential collaboration, further encouraging Rakeeb to pursue music professionally.
At 15, Rakeeb released his first official single, "Somebody Like You," which gained traction in Lagos and helped establish his early fanbase. With a growing audience and a distinctive sound, YVN Rakeeb is building his presence as an emerging force in the Afro-R&B scene.
